Grain dust is highly explosive. If no precautions are taken, grain dust can cause explosions. On average 250 pounds of dust is lost per 1,000 bushels of grain, which can be considered lost revenue to the elevator. The Food and Drug Administration allows up to 6 quarts of grain dedust spray oil per 1,000 bushels of grain. Grain dedust spray oil is an economical solution; supporting key elevator operational initiatives.
